Dr. Thometz received his undergraduate degree from Marquette University in his hometown of Milwaukee. Following this, he obtained his doctorate at Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine. He then completed his 3-year podiatric residency at Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago. His residency concentrated on forefoot, reconstructive rearfoot, and ankle surgery along with limb salvage and wound care. Dr. Thometz received training under some of Chicago’s top foot and ankle surgeons including peripheral nerve specialists, orthopedic trauma surgeons, and fellowship-trained podiatrists. Dr. Thometz has participated in gait analysis research that has been published in the International Journal of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation.
Dr. Thometz is committed to developing strong interpersonal relationships with his patients by combining evidence-based medicine with patient goals to create effective treatment plans. He would like to utilize the cutting edge treatment modalities and surgical skills obtained during his residency to enhance his patient’s lives by efficiently and effectively treating their lower extremity pathologies.
Dr. Thometz is looking forward to treating the communities of Northern Illinois with empathy and compassion along with providing the best and most comprehensive podiatric care for his patients. When not treating patients, Dr. Thometz’s hobbies include running, traveling, and playing golf. He also enjoys spending time outdoors kayaking, hiking, and skiing.
