Dr. Michael Owens

Dr. Michael Owens is a skilled physician, specializing in advanced treatment and procedures for the foot and ankle. He uses his exceptional knowledge and skills to understand the unique needs of each patient and provide them with the best possible care.  

Dr. Owens earned his Bachelor of Arts and Science degree at the University of Northern Iowa. He then pursued his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine at Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.  Dr. Owens completed his Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency at MercyOne Waterloo, where he earned his credential in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery.   He is highly respected for his expertise in forefoot, rearfoot, trauma, and revisional reconstructive surgery.

Before dedicating himself to podiatric medicine, Dr. Owens served as an advanced emergency medical technician, firefighter, and hazmat operations technician. These experiences reflect his deep sense of duty and commitment to serving others, which Dr. Owens carries into his medical practice today.

Dr. Owens believes in actively involving patients in their healthcare decisions. He values open communication, listens attentively to his patients, and respects their opinions. Known for his kind, personable demeanor, Dr. Owens fosters a collaborative relationship with each patient, ensuring they feel heard and understood.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Owens enjoys spending quality time with his family, using his craftsmanship abilities and technical skills for home improvement projects. He is also an active volunteer at Prairie Lakes Church, the Red Cross, and Amvets. Additionally, Dr. Owens is a passionate music aficionado who relishes any opportunity to practice and refine his musical techniques.
