Dr. Alm received his undergraduate degree in pre-med at Northern Illinois University and attended medical school at the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine. He then completed his surgical residency at Northlake Community Hospital, his final year serving as chief surgical resident. In 1983 Dr. Alm received a Master of Science Degree in Surgery from the Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine.
Dr. Alm is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and he is a Fellow in the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association as well as the Illinois Podiatric Medical Association. He has hospital affiliations with Advocate Sherman Hospital and Amita Saint Joseph Hospital.
In 2014 through 2016 Dr. Alm served as Advocate Sherman Hospital’s Chief of the Department of Surgery.
Dr. Alm has been awarded the Saint Joseph Hospital Vikram V. Shah, MD Memorial Physician Recognition Award and the Advocate Sherman Hospital Pillar Award for Outstanding Service to the Elgin Community.
