Dr. Pete Lovato’s undergraduate training was in exercise physiology at Marquette University in 2007. He then graduated from medical school at Rosalind Franklin University’s Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in 2013. His 3-year surgical residency training was completed at Mercy Hospital & Medical Center in 2016.
He is double board certified in forefoot, as well as, Rear foot & Ankle reconstructive surgery. Dr. Lovato has extensive experience training and treating athletes as a former hockey and rowing athlete and coach. He also spent time as a personal trainer and marathon & triathlon coach.
Dr. Lovato is very involved in the training of the next generation of foot & ankle experts. He acts as an attending physician/surgeon to the Rush University residency program, and is the education director for the Northern Illinois Foot & Ankle Foundation Fellowship program in reconstruction deformity correction and trauma surgery. He is very active in research and has presented all over the US and Europe.
Dr. Lovato is also heavily involved in limb salvage, diabetic care, and wound care. Dr. Lovato was elected as President of the Illinois Association of Podiatric Physicians & Surgeons in 2025 and continues to be active in shaping the future of Foot & Ankle Specialists in Illinois and across the United States.
